Ect-data Fusion by the Independent Component Analysis for Non-destructive Evaluation of Metallic Slabs

چکیده
The aim of this paper is to present an application of ICA to non-destructive evaluation by unsupervised data-fusion, which aims at discovering the flaws affecting a metallic slab. The signals acquired through an eddy-currentprobe for nondestructive evaluation purposes are affected by strong noise and disturbances due to the mechanical system that the probe is mounted on. The availability of multiple measurements allows performing a linear data-fusion which returns independent latent signals, one of which represents the flawrelated signal recovered from the noisy mixture. A one-unit neural ICA system is employed to extract such latent signal.

One-unit 'rigid-bodies' learning rule for principal/independent component analysis with application to ECT-NDE signal processing
The aim of this research work is to present a detailed theoretical analysis of the one-unit learning rule based on the rigid-bodies learning theory, specialized for first principal/independent component analysis. The adaptation equations are regarded as generators of weight-flows on a structured parameters space; the stationary points of the learning equations are determined and their stability...
متن کاملHigher order based image deconvolution in electromagnetic non destructive evaluation of metallic materials
We present a non-destructive magnetic imaging technique developed for the evaluation of hot-rolled stainless steel. Starting from measurements of magnetic field carried out by means of a Hall probe array, magnetic images of sample surfaces are attained. In order to enhance the signal to noise ratio and to detect defects, we have implemented some image processing protocols. In particular we repo...
متن کاملEfficiency Measurement of Clinical Units Using Integrated Independent Component Analysis-DEA Model under Fuzzy Conditions
Background and Objectives: Evaluating the performance of clinical units is critical for effective management of health settings. Certain assessment of clinical variables for performance analysis is not always possible, calling for use of uncertainty theory. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an integrated independent component analysis-fuzzy-data envelopment analysis approach to accurate ...
متن کاملOn the Detection of Inhomogeneities in Steel by Computed Tomography
The detection of inhomogeneities such as shrinkage pores, gas pores or cracks in light metals or plastics by means of microfocus x-rays computed tomography (μXCT) has become a common non-destructive testing method in recent years. The evaluation of CT-data of Fe-based materials is more difficult, since they are usually noisy, of poor contrast and the interpretation is affected by measurement ar...
متن کاملVariations of blood glucose level in non-diabetic patients before and after Electroconvulsive Therapy
Introduction: Application of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for the induction of generalized seizure was first introduced in 1938. It is applied for disorders as severe depression particularly for cases which do not respond to drug therapy, or during pregnancy when medication is detrimental to the fetus. The debate on the effect of ECT on blood glucose level is still contradictory. However, st...
